Plant Electrician
Alaska General Seafoods – Naknek, AK
As a Plant Electrician at our Naknek, Alaska facility, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the seafood processing plant. Your duties will include troubleshooting electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, installing new electrical components while adhering to electrical safety standards. You will work closely with other maintenance and production personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the plant. Strong electrical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are essential for this role.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position requires onsite presence at our Naknek, Alaska processing facility and the ability to travel, including at times to remote locations.
Physical Demands
This role requires the capability to work consecutive, long, and variable work shifts for extended periods of time. The work schedule is typically 12 hours per day, 7 days per week. Additional work may be required. The work is strenuous and sometimes hazardous due to exposure to operating machinery, mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, pressurized fluids, and vibration, with the facility operating under all types of weather conditions, including extreme cold. This includes standing, walking, and maintaining balance on wet or slippery surfaces.
Both hands must be capable of grabbing, holding, or gripping ropes, rails, equipment, and plant structures for frequent periods of time. Forceful grasping along with repetitive finger and hand use is occasional. Applicants must be able to climb up and down ladders safely, work in small and confined spaces, and pass all safety test requirements.

Presentation and sharing of information should be handled directly, appropriately, and helpfully. The candidate must maintain a reputation for honesty, confidentiality, reliability, and fairness. They should be willing to admit mistakes and not misrepresent themselves for personal gain. Work should be performed with energy and drive; while planning is important, the ability to take quick, decisive action when opportunities arise is also valued.
Important Considerations
This work can be hard, monotonous, and boring. Most cell phones do not work in remote areas of Alaska. For Example: GCI cell phones are the most reliable in Naknek, while T-Mobile and Verizon occasionally work. WiFi is very limited.
